Upon arrival at Burtons there was a hour and a half wait. We was seated in that amount of time. It was very crowded which is always a good sign. The menu wasn't overwhelming and well put together. There was for some items a half portion or a full portion depending on how hungry your feeling.
That day we selected an appetizer, we went with the Point Judith Calamari served with cherry peppers and tartar sauce priced at... $13.95 . The calamari was good not over cooked, just with the right crunch from the batter which was rich with it's seasoning. We wasn't dinning alone so our guest order the SIGNATURE WINGS which is seasoned with a Memphis dry rubbed or maple sriracha sauce, buttermilk blue cheese dressing...13.95. We was offered some of the wings which I found to be ok. When I look to have dry rubbed wings the should be exactly that; dry. The flavor that accompanied them was pretty good once you get past the moist skin taste.
Since we wasn't familiar with there food I went with the Short Ribs which was aged certified angus beef, mashed potatoes, broccoli red wine served with horseradish sauce...17.95 or 26.95. Which you have a full and half portion that's why you see two prices. I ordered the half portion and it was enough for my liking for the evening. The beef was very tender it fell apart with a touch of the fork. It was full of flavor, the mash potatoes complimented the dish as broccoli was cooked well and fresh. I can't say the same about the Mrs meal. She order the full order of crab cakes which is described as super lump blue crab, vegetable cole slaw, fresh cut french fries, mustard sauce...15.95 or 24.95. Which she said was fresh, but unseasoned with very little flavor. She also didn't enjoy the crust finish that was on top of the cakes. The fresh salted French fries and cole slaw was the highlight of the Mrs and our guest meal since there dish was the same. The Mrs gave her portion a 2.5 star rating. As for myself and our guest we rate it at 4 stars for the Short Ribs and the Burger. Its safe to say when you see the majority of customers ordering beef products, to stay away from the seafood.
The Mrs really enjoyed her dessert more than the entree. That's a big deal, because she prefers food over dessert any day. She ordered a Mason Jar Chocolate Moose Cake. I ordered a vanilla chocolate raspberry cheese cake which taste like it came out of a supermarket frozen container. Safe to say it wasn't the highlight of my evening.
The dining experience was a pleasant one based on the lighting and the decor. A place that you can bring a date to wine and dine. You might want to stay away from the seafood for now, but if your looking for a place for chicken or beef and a cocktail to go with it you might want to head here.
