New York - Connecticut - New Jersey
Growing up in NYC good pizza was never hard to find, it was merely just walking a few blocks away from home and there you have it! Good pizza to go. Now living in the New England area for over a decade it wasn't no longer just that simple.
My god I thing I have found a spot "Thinking out loud". I have to admit I stumbled on this one by accident. I had found out that they recently just re-openned do to a fire the suffered over a year and a half ago. I'm glad that they did, even though I didn't sample everything on the menu. You go to a pizza shop to order pizza and if everything else happens to be good, it's a double win. This little town located in Connecticut between Westport and Fairfield is called Southport. This jewel of a pizza shop is called Sammy's Southport Pizza & Grill.
I was happy I left my Lunch home that day!
I hate running out to get lunch because it can become time consuming with traffic and all so this day. My co-worker and I decided to order in. He pulls out a menu that was dropped off as I remembered a couple of days ago by one of there drivers. Since I didn't have food me being nosy I inquired "what are you going to order from there"? When he said BBQ Chicken pizza, I chimed in and said "you know what order me the same". It was ready and delivered in the matter of 20 mins it seemed. All I knew was that I was hungry and it got here fast. Wow... was my response after my first bite. I heard my co-worker murmured the same response almost simultaneously. Immediately I thought to myself New York style pizza with a bbq twist. Second bite... this thing is good and wanting others to share my joy I offered a slice. I have been to other restaurants referred by others in New England. Some upscale in there decor and presentation, but yet this by far was the icing on the cake if I may say. Its's a thin crust personal style pizza topped with grilled chicken breast and unlaid with bbq sauce instead of tomate sauce. One word to describe it! " Delicious".
Conclusion: If your a pizza lover and looking for a good pie to go. Or your passing through the New England area, this would be the place to stop. Until next discovery I grade this place a "B".
