We arrived at Joey at 4:05pm and there was an half and hour wait. The waiting area and lobby was very crowded, so we decided to go wait it out in the car. It's was currently 24 degrees outside so we rushed back to the warm vehicle.
The text came 20 minutes later notifying that out table was ready. We was so hungry that we couldn't get seated fast enough. We had good expectations especially for our first meal of the day. Within 3 minutes of being seated the waiter came and introduced himself as we quickly browsed through the menu. We had decided what we wanted with in that short period of time.
For our beverage we order on occasion is lemon water. It helps with digestion and ultimately helps keeps the calories down. Our appetizers was the fried calamari with peppers. For the entree I order the shrimp scampi and Ray order the Pasta Bolognese which both entrees come with a salad or house soup. We choose the Caesar salad with ours meals. The turn around time was simply impressive for the appetizer and for the entree, especially for how crowded it was that day.
For the calamari it was ok, it lack flavor other than the fried peppers that surround the dish.
SHRIMP SCAMPI Linguini tossed in a briny mix of shrimp, garlic, fresh herbs, EVOO, capers, lemon, wine and chopped tomato. $19.59 This is an amazing dish for starters, they said" a picture is worth a thousand words". This doesn't even come close to explaining how delicious this meal was. The shrimp for starters was well cleaned which is very important when it comes to Foodborne illnesses. The flavor of the fresh herbs and white wine was bursting with every bite. This happens to be the best scampi I had in a very longtime. For a period of 13 years or more when looking back. This is one dish if you love Pasta and seafood not to pass up.
PASTA BOLOGNESE This famous Northern Italian meat sauce contains beef, pork, garlic, onions, white wine, basil and a touch of cream. It’s all simmered until rich and thick. Your choice of pasta, served with a dollop of ricotta cheese. $16.99 When I looked across the table at Ray's face after she took her first bite. I knew we both were in amazement, I said "how is it"? The immediate reply was you have to taste this. I was so excited that both of the dishes turned out exceptional. It became silent shortly after since our faces was buried into our plates. The bonus was you get a healthy portion of either entree's almost family style, its safe to say we had a couple of days of leftovers to keep us reminiscing. We felt ourselves getting full so I stopped eating, I needed to save room for dessert.
