New York - Connecticut - New Jersey
With us food always wins. While the Dallas Cowboys was playing we were looking for a restaurant to satisfy our addiction.
That's how we ended up at Cabana Nuevo Latino. We had arrived at Cabana around 7:15 that evening and was seated immediately. This New York City 3rd avenue location is smallish in comparison to there other locations. This particular night it wasn't as crowded like it usually can be. We love the three day holiday weekends, because it becomes a date night opportunity for us on a Sunday evening. Like a pro we ordered our food right away after skimming through the menu briefly. "We would like to have two orders of the skirt steak with yellow rice and red beans" as we replied to the waitress.
The name of the dish is called Churrasco which is a Latin American style skirt steak marinated in garlic and fresh herbs accompanied by chimichurri and cebollitas. The food came within 10 minutes or less. It was just that fast, almost if they had a crystal ball and knew what we was going to order before being seated. No short change here, you know when the dish has arrived by the sizzling noise approaching from behind accompanied with an aroma that makes you mouth water. You get a healthy portion of steak and rice & beans. Each bite will make you say OMG, so rich with flavor seasoned to perfection. Very tender especially for a piece that's cooked well done.
The rice & beans completes the entree... as the Mrs states "You can't go wrong with this one here". "Each time when we get to eat here I never complained about my food; I give this dish 5 stars" quote the wife. I can't deny anything she said about our meal.
Last but not least, it's dessert time. What we ordered was fried bananas with a chocolate fudge and vanilla ice cream. No complaints there as well only that we wanted more.
Conclusion: If your looking for a place to enjoy a little Latin cuisine and don't mind going into the Big Apple, Cabana should be on your list to try! Be prepared to spend a few $$ drinks and appetizers can quickly cause prices to rise.
